Bihar's Purnia District Hit by Devastating House Fire, Four Children Killed

Bihar: In Bihar's Purnia, four children have died due to burns. The incident took place in Shaheedganj ward number 4 of Shaheedganj panchayat under Bhawanipur police station area of Purnia. According to the information, a candle caught fire in the house of Mohammad Lajim here late on Sunday night. The house was burnt down. The deceased has been identified as Asijam alias Alijan, son of Mohammad Lajim. On receiving information about the incident, Bhawanipur police reached the spot on Monday morning. Police sent the body of the dead child to Purnia for post-mortem. Bhawanipur CO Isha Ranjan also reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. He gave polythene sheets, dry ration and other relief materials to the family. 

Candle flame causes house fire

He also assured that the families of the victims will get disaster assistance from the government very soon. Regarding the incident, the mother of the deceased, Sanjana Khatoon, told that her husband has gone to Delhi to work as a labourer. On Sunday, she was sleeping with a candle in the house with her four children. His house caught fire in ther midnightdue to flames of candle. He said they were sleeping. When he woke up from sleep after the uproar of the neighbors, he saw that the fire had taken a vivid form. Somehow she managed to get out with her three children, but her four children were caught in the middle of the fire of Assizam. By the time the family and neighbours did something, the fire engulfed the son.

Fire trucks were unable to reach because of no road

Locals said that the fire department was informed about the fire. After this, the fire department personnel reached the spot, but due to the lack of proper road, the vehicles of the department could not reach the spot. Locals said they worked hard to control the fire, but by then all the contents of the house were burnt and the child was burnt to death.
